The name of this variety hints to its appearance, characterized by a black color almost impenetrable to the light. The young wine is dominated by a floral and fruity bouquet with aromas of violet gently melding with sweet blueberry. A slight  aging adds warmer and more complex perfumes, where spicy notes are strengthened by a light aroma of tobacco and cherry jam.

To the palate it has well structured notes and a tannin capably handled by excellent vinification. To the taste it is warm, strong and dry, characterized by a very persistent finish.
